Week 84: Khmer New Year
Happy Khmer New Year everyone! Quick email, but this was a really fun week despite a lot of people being out of town for the holiday.
I was able to do two exchanges this past week with my homies Elder Dennett and Elder Gooch. I've known Elder Dennett since my first day in the mission and he was one of my first friends here. It's so awesome to see how much we have both grown since our very first exchange over a year ago. Elder Gooch is also my homie. He is កូនកត់ half-Khmer just like me so we can bond over that. We had an amazing day of contacting and adventures around the city.
We also had zone conference this past week and talked about being the 4th missionary. Afterwards we had a Khmer New Year party with all of the missionaries in the city. We played lots of Khmer games, learned how to dance, and ate lots of food. Really got to embrace my culture. So much fun. Lots of baby powder too.
To end the week, we got to watch General Conference! A few things that I noticed and learned were that we need to continually study and remember the words of the prophet.
"Peacemakers Needed"
"Think Celestial"
I also learned about how important the temple and prayer are in our lives right now. I'm pretty far from any temples right now, buy I can't wait to go back in a few months.
Please continue to pray to Heavenly Father for anything. And if there is a temple near you, please go!
Love,
Elder Mendenhall
