Week 68: Christmas - The Small and Simple Things
Merry Christmas everyone! What an amazing time of year that we get to celebrate the birth of our brother and Savior Jesus Christ.
For Christmas the whole mission got together and we had a mission conference, had a white elephant gift exchange, and got to eat some delicious food. There were also some traditional Khmer dancers that performed which was super cool. It was really good to see all my homies in the mission, meet some new missionaries, and especially getting to see my whole MTC group again. Love those guys.
Jesus Christ is the greatest gift we could ever receive, and I am so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father that loves us so much that He gave us His only begotten son.
Matthew 1:21
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins."
This time of year helps me to think about the small and simple things we have in our lives, especially when we are going through harder times.
This week I studied about the small and simple things and read two talks by President Oaks and Ballard called "The Small and Simple Things." In President Ballard's talk he shared D&C 64:33 which says, “Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.”
This scripture really helped me to understand my current situation and helped me to realize I just need to focus on the little things one step at a time.
I was also able to finish the Book of Mormon again this past week and it truly has strengthened my love and testimony for it and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I know it's true. I know Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know He loves each and every one of us.
Love,
Elder Mendenhall
