Week 57: Think Celestial!

Oct 09, 2023

What's up everyone!

This week I got to do a couple of exchanges and they were so fun. One with my fellow Texan, Elder Tiraphatna, and another with my boy Elder Dennett.

In both exchanges we were really able to see the hand of the Lord guiding us in the work. Elder T is an office elder so they're really busy and don't get to go outside as much as missionaries usually do. We had some time to go finding and we didn't really know where we were going, so we stopped and said a prayer and asked Heavenly Father to help us to know where we should go. When we finished the prayer we looked up and saw a guy holding a really nice camera, so we decided to go talk to him. Not much happened with that guy but it led us to talking to this ពូ who said the missionaries could go back and talk to him again. Nothing too crazy, but now there are a few people who know a little bit more about their Heavenly Father and His plan for them than they did before.

On exchange with Elder Dennett we saw some huge miracles. We went to this area here in Ta Khmau that has a few inactive member families that we've been trying to help. As we were in the area, we were trying to find a potential investigator that was in our area book but didn't know. This kid walks out and asks who we're looking for. We tell him the name and he said there's a lot of people with that same name in the area. So we told him to just take us to one he knew. We followed him on his bike to this random house which ended up not being the guy we were looking for, but instead found a family that said we could go back and meet with them!

Then the kid came with us to visit a member and afterwards we just asked him if we could meet his parents and go to his house. He said yes and we followed him. Turns out his mom used to live right in front of the church a few years ago and knows the elders. AND his aunt has been a member for almost 10 years but has gone inactive. So we told them we'd go back and visit them this upcoming week.

The Lord is aware of all of us. :)

I have so much I want to say about General Conference because it was so good, but this email is already long so I won't say much. But I loved all the talks and the music sung by the choir filled me with the Spirit. I have had General Conference music in repeat for the past 3 days. Never thought I would say that, but it's fire. Go listen to President Nelson's talk "Think Celestial!"

Love,
Elder Mendenhall
