Cambodia Battambang Ta Khmau

Week 46: Ta Khmau (Black Grandpa)

Jul 25, 2023

Hey everyone!! Transfers just happened and I left Battambang, sadly. :( It was so amazing being able to serve in the place my mom is from and I'm really going to miss all the amazing members there. There are so many people I love there and hope I get to see again someday. I definitely shed some tears leaving Battambang.

Now I am back in the city near Phnom Penh again. I am in a city called Ta Khmau (which means Black Grandpa) and I am soooo excited to be here. My older brother, Tanner, used to serve in this area so I'm excited to hopefully meet some of the people he did. I also get the opportunity to serve around my great friends Bong Jarom (Brother Jarom Jones) and his wife again. They were with me for my first 3 transfers in country and helped me so much. They moved to Ta Khmau to be near her family.

My new companion is Elder Clarkson, and he is an absolute beast. His MTC group just ended this past week and they are going home which was really sad. They are all such great examples to me. Elder Clarkson extended one more month though, so I have the privilege of "killing" him. I am now a zone leader with him and we are also the district leaders, hahaha. And we are also white-washing Ta Khmau 2nd Branch. I am super excited for this next month with him and want to just soak up as much knowledge as I can from him. I can't wait to see the hand of the Lord in His work.

Also, shoutout to Elder Winegar because he's AP (Assistant to the President) now. We have been in the same zones my whole mission. I love him. And I love you all.

Love,
Elder Mendenhall
