Week 34: The Outback
New transfers started this week. I got a new companion and he's a brand new missionary, fresh out of the MTC. His name is Elder Hunt and he is a Samoan from Australia. He has such a positive attitude about everything and is ready to get to work. I'm really looking forward to it!
I'm excited to have this opportunity to train a new missionary. I am also district leader again so I got a lot on my plate. I hope I will be able to help all the other elders and sisters to the best of my ability.
This week in our district council we talked about the importance of receiving personal revelation and how we can receive it as well. Elder Robert D. Hales said: “When we want to speak to God, we pray. And when we want Him to speak to us, we search the scriptures.” I know through many personal experiences in my life that this is true. Right before I started my mission I read Alma 26:37 which says, "Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my God forever. Amen." This verse brings me so much comfort and helps me to know that we are all exactly where we are supposed to be in this life. God will help everyone to return to Him again. As we continually pray to Him and read the scriptures, I know we can receive our own personal revelation from God.
Love,
Elder Mendenhall
